Karim Ali is an independent work health and safety (WHS) expert witness based in Sydney. He has more than 20 years’ experience managing safety risks across energy, construction, manufacturing and infrastructure, and has prepared more than 150 expert reports since 2020 in workers’ compensation and public liability matters.
His areas of opinion include unsafe systems of work, slips, trips and falls, hazardous manual tasks, machinery and plant safety, contractor management, incident analysis and reasonably practicable risk controls. He reviews the WHS requirements and recognised practices relevant to the time of an incident and provides impartial, evidence-based opinions for plaintiff and defendant matters.
Karim is a Chartered OHS Professional and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Health and Safety, a Chartered Fellow of IOSH and a Certified Safety Professional. He is also Head of Occupational Safety at Origin Energy and a sessional academic at Western Sydney University.
